No. 11 - Song - Jeanie - "I'm hav-n' a richt guid time!"
Lyrics by Percy Greenbank
[Jeanie:]
I packed my wee bit bag
And started awa' from Dover,
And since that day, I'm proud to say
I've travelled half Europe over.
I've fairly seen the sights,
And ye'd be surprised to find
How wonderfu' quickly a month of travel
Will broaden a lassie's mind.
I've been peerin' for weeks and weeks
At lakes and valleys and mountain peaks.
And so ye ken the noo
I've learnt a thing or two.
One day I thocht the Matterhorn I would climb;
They tied me onto a wee bit rope,
And slung me over the mountain slope--
Eh! I'm havin' a richt guid time!
I spent a nicht in Rome,
At Venice ye then wud see me;
Them gondoliers are pairfect dears,
Their eyes are so dark and dreamy.
A young mon in the train
Once called me a bonnie lass;
'Twas just as we came to the wee bit tunnel
That gangs through the Simplon Pass.
While the train went a-whustlin' on,
He tried to kiss me, did that young mon.
And so ye ken the noo
I've learnt a thing or two.
To kiss a body, surely it is nae crime.
The Simplon tunnel's an awful lark,
For twenty minutes ye're in the dark--
Eh! I'm havin' a richt guid time!
Doon Monte Carlo way
To gamble I was no' willin',
Then lost my head and plunged on red,
The croupier's got ma shillin'.
Then feelin' raither glum,
I thocht it wud be the thing
To go for a cure to them German places,
And drink from a bubbly spring.
Smart Society, so I hear,
Does the varra same thing each year.
And so ye ken the noo
I've learnt a thing or two.
They told me Carlsbad water was simply prime.
Though one wee tastie was all I had,
I understan' why they "Carls" it "Bad"
Eh! I'm havin' a richt guid time!
