ACT I   -   Luigi's Farmyard near Casimo, a small in Lombardy, Italy.   Autumn.

  • No. 2 - Song - Gabby and Chorus - "All this silly talk of ours, making love with books and flowers, take it from an expert that it's wrong;  for when you try to frame..."
  • No. 3 - Song - Larotta and Chorus - "It is a merry, merry thing to hear the hunter's call! ... There surely is a lot in what you say! ... To try to capture something..."
  • No. 4 - Song - Guido and Chorus - "I call her wildflow'r. His little wildflow'r. She's so capricious. Yet how delicious. A blossom fragrant that scents the vagrant air..."
  • No. 5 - Song - Nina and Chorus - "Wilt thou come with me to the fair?  Bambalina will be there. ... Who is Bambalina? What sort of man is he? ... He's a fiddler..."
